Retro style painting of a flying Curtis-Wright P-40K Warhawk from 1940 is sure to bring back the feeling of being in the air, even if you are hundreds of miles away from land. This is because of the quality of detail that was put into the painting. The artwork of artist Jan Keteleer who did the artwork for this particular painting was a testament to the quality of workmanship that he brought to the art form of his time. He painted the plane in the flying format that was most commonly used at the time.

The painting of this aircraft is done in what is known as the "retro-caption" style. This is a painting technique that was adopted by some of the best painters such as Andy Warhol. This style was started by the experimental art movement. This was a movement that attempted to portray everyday life through the use of various methods that were new at the time. It sought to make art more appealing to the public and to inject some fun into the otherwise mundane art world.
