The woman in this image has her hands firmly over her mouth. She is staring back at us with intense, deeply piercing eyes. In this particular image, we find that she has chosen to stop talking about racism. She has chosen to close her mouth to calling out the racism going on around her, or the racism that she herself is being exposed to. However, these are not things that black women are allowed to do in our society. They must speak. They must fight. Are you committed to uncovering your mouth to join them?

I love to present works that challenge our perceptions of the world around us. For example, our relationship to advertising visuals and slogans is often a complex one. When we take these artificial concepts, and combine them with an example of humanity that has been stripped down to its core, the results can be quite fascinating. I am a Belgian artist with interests in both classical and contemporary art. I particularly love the opportunity to bring those things together in the most unique ways I can imagine. While you can find examples of holiday pieces, or tranquil scenes of nature or animals, I am particularly fond of pieces that combine classic art elements with modern sensibilities.
