From the moment we set our sights upon this acryl on canvas piece, we are struck by the contrast of the two decidedly differing images that dominate the scene. We have a giant Zippo lighter, displayed in the iconic, simple silver design that is still found in stores to this day. Near the Zippo lighter, we have a nude woman. She stands defiantly. She stares intently. We don’t know what she’s saying, but we understand that she isn’t someone who is going to be pushed around. It helps to have that much fire on hand. Available as wall art, t-shirts, or as interior home décor products.
About Jan Keteleer
I love to present works that challenge our perceptions of the world around us. For example, our relationship to advertising visuals and slogans is often a complex one. When we take these artificial concepts, and combine them with an example of humanity that has been stripped down to its core, the results can be quite fascinating. I am a Belgian artist with interests in both classical and contemporary art. I particularly love the opportunity to bring those things together in the most unique ways I can imagine. While you can find examples of holiday pieces, or tranquil scenes of nature or animals, I am particularly fond of pieces that combine classic art elements with modern sensibilities.
