It is obviously a late summer day on the beach looking flawless; Two tanned ladies in swimsuits are walking along the beach with the sea in the background in a clear blue sky. Yet they stand still and both look at what is to come.... you can see in the sky blue sky the first signs of clouds. Is it going to rain, storm or is something else going on. We as viewers don't know that and this image doesn't tell us that either.
I created this work at the end of the summer of 2022 and the first signs of autumn are becoming visible. It is also the time when our Western world is under pressure with the war that is raging in Ukraine and we don't know what is coming.
What is going to happen this coming winter, the question everyone is asking and no one can answer.
So the two ladies in swimsuits symbolize our Western world that is used to bathing in luxury. That the two ladies suddenly stop and look wondering what is coming symbolizes us, we are these ladies who ask ourselves questions but do not know the answer.
